ABOUT WILLIAM OLIVIER

“What matters is where I am going, not where I come from. Join me on this journey.”

I grew up in Roodepoort, Gauteng, South Africa and moved to the beautiful city of Cape Town in 2012. Informal portrait drawing has been a hobby of mine from a young age. I wanted to obtain an official art education after completing matric, but was advised by many that it was not a wise career choice.

My future was therefore redirected, when I obtained a bursary from a major steel manufacturer, to study mechanical engineering. During my studies I kept my creative side alive by making jewelry and selling it to students on campus.

Not having much time to practice art for the next 20 years, switching careers multiple times between the engineering and information technology environment, yearning for that missing piece of my soul.

I decided it was time again to invest in my passion for creating art. In June 2016
I discovered my talent for creating sculptures during a ceramic and sculpture workshop. I have since embarked on a journey to develop my hidden talent to transform ideas into sculptures and paintings. My other passion is to immortalise my subject in a moment of time on canvas. The moment being an achievement in their career, special event or a breakthrough moment.

I am looking forward to catch up on life through my art journey and making a difference in someone’s life by using my art as part of their journey.
